I am currently being trained in the fine arts and yoga. I plan on combining these passions of mine to commit to my vision of teaching life lessons through contemporary art. Art has the power to connect to the individual and enhance the community to positively instigate change through addressing societal issues. This is a parallel cognition to my other life’s aim of being a teacher. I plan on teaching yoga to support my art until I am able to obtain my masters in art education so that I may teach collegiate level artists. Being a yoga instructor now, I have gained the experience of teaching and connecting with a body of people. I wish to teach to share my energy, share my knowledge, inspire people to reach their fullest potential, and to master my own practices. I’ve always believed that if you want to learn, do. If you want to master, teach. Teaching allows for one to fully understand the process of their respective art and understand new solutions to old problems through a student body. A teacher is also a mentor, an advisor and directly assists the community by empowering the individual through improving the quality of people’s lives. I would devote my life to my art and fully immerse myself through the power of Yoga. I would live as I do now, teaching my practices, stretching into the future, and capturing the world as I see it.

What do you love, and how do your actions demonstrate this?

I enjoy yoga with a passion and found it incredibly unfortunate that Yoga just isn’t really offered out in the backwoods of Menomonie Wisconsin where I attend the University of Wisconsin Stout. Practicing in front of various school buildings I attracted a small group of individuals with interests in joining my practice. At the time I was currently exposing a number of students to Qi-gong, a form of moving meditation that could be classified as Raja Yoga. The number of people I was teaching rapidly expanded, and needing a way to manage this body of people, I was able to assert myself to create a student organization called “Zen Living” whose members practice Yoga, Qi-Gong, and Mindful Activities as well as tackle community projects. Zen Living has taught me to constructively apply and relax into stress and enabled me to coach others to see their potential, which in turn has shown me my own. The experience of being the President of a student organization and teacher of a small yogic community has taught me many leadership skills and has introduced myself as a community member and contributor as well as introduce me to a number of spiritual practitioners in the area. I plan on being an art professor and Yoga instructor later in life so that I can inspire people to be better people through mindful attention and being present, with love, in the moment. Teaching Yoga now has given me a jump-start on coaching people and my goals.
